How it works · step by step

From zero to translating, in six steps

Add PlumiBot, drop it into a group, breeze through a 15-second setup, and you're translating. Then upgrade and manage your plan whenever you're ready.

1

Add PlumiBot as a friend

Tap Add on LINE at the top of this page (or scan its QR code inside LINE) and add it as a friend. That's the whole install — nothing to download.

01 · Add friend
LINE “Add friend” screen showing PlumiBot’s QR code — “Scan the QR code to add this friend.”
2

Add it to a group

3

Do the quick onboarding

PlumiBot sends you a 15-second DM to set your name and the language it talks to you in. In a hurry? Tap !skip. Change your mind later with !setlang fr (or any language code).

03 · Onboarding

Pricing

Simple, token-based pricing

Pay for what you use. One clear currency — tokens — for every feature.

What's a token?

Tokens are how AI measures text length. A short message is ~50 tokens, a normal sentence is ~200 tokens, and a long paragraph is ~1,000 tokens.

Why tokens?

Because a 5-word message and a 500-word document aren't the same. Paying per-message would be unfair. Paying per-token means you're charged exactly for what you actually use.

Compare plans

What each plan includes

Free covers the thing most groups came for: chat translation in every language, plus games, digest and stats. Reading voice notes, photos and shared links costs several times more to run, so those live on the paid plans — along with a much bigger token budget.

Every plan translates chat on the same model, free ones included — paying more should buy you more translation, not a better sentence. The larger model is reserved for what genuinely needs it: reading voice notes, photos and shared links. We keep swapping in better models as they ship, and your plan follows along at no extra cost.

Common questions

Everything you might want to know before (or after) adding PlumiBot.

How do I add PlumiBot to my group?
Tap “Add on LINE” anywhere on this site to add the bot as a friend, then invite it into any group like you would any LINE friend. It also works one-on-one in a DM.
Does it work in a DM, or only in groups?
Both. In a group it translates into every language the group has set up; one-on-one in a DM it translates into that chat's own language list. Add or change a chat's languages with !lang add <code>.
Do I need to register?
Just a quick one-time setup in DM — it confirms your language and the name you'd like to go by, then you're done. Prefer to skip it? Type !skip anytime.
Is PlumiBot free?
Yes — the Free tier translates 300 chat messages a month at no cost, and games, digest and stats come with it. Voice notes, photos and shared links are paid features. Paid plans start at NT$100 ($3.09)/month for 10,000 messages, with pay-as-you-go credits as an option.
How many languages does it support?
124 — from English, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Japanese, Korean and Thai through to Kinyarwanda, Quechua and Meiteilon. See every language →
Does it add tone tags or translation notes?
No — you get the clean translation and nothing else, one tidy block per language. Behind the scenes it reads recent chat context to settle short or ambiguous messages, but it never clutters the reply with commentary.
Can it handle voice notes and images?
Send a LINE voice note for transcription + translation (long clips are summarized), or a photo of a menu, sign or document for clean OCR. Text-free photos are silently ignored. Both are paid features — on the Free tier the bot says so instead of reading them.
Do voice notes and images use more tokens?
A little — voice adds transcription and images add OCR on top of the translation, so they cost a bit more than plain text. The pricing section has rule-of-thumb estimates.
What about really long messages?
Messages over 500 characters are summarized before translating, so the group doesn't get buried under a wall of text.
What's a token, and what if I run out?
Tokens are how AI measures text — a short message is ~50, a normal one ~350. If you hit your monthly quota, translation pauses until the 1st; upgrade or switch to pay-as-you-go anytime.
Do unused tokens roll over?
Monthly plans reset on the 1st, so they don't roll over. Pay-as-you-go credits never expire, though.
What games can I play?
Word Chain (chain words by their last letter) and Translation Duel (fastest correct translation wins, best of five), each with a group leaderboard. Messages are broadcast in every group language so mixed-language groups can play fairly, and winners pick up bonus translation tokens.
Can I move my Group Pro plan to another group?
Yes. Run !groupid in the new group to get its ID, then transfer the plan from your dashboard.
Is my data secure?
Group chat is stored only for 7 days so !digest can summarize it, then auto-deleted; DMs aren't stored. Everything sits in encrypted databases with row-level security.
How do I get help?
Type !help in LINE for an interactive menu, or email support@plumibot.com.

Our story

The feather that bridges every world

PlumiBot was born from a simple desire: to make relationships easier across languages, cultures, and borders.

Plumi the carrier pigeon

Long before apps and instant messages, carrier pigeons were the world's most trusted messengers — crossing borders and braving storms to reach people who had no other way to connect. Plumi carries on that tradition in a modern form: swift, reliable, and always bridging the distance between languages and cultures.

Swift. Loyal. Always delivering.

Plumi.app
Hello!

A little messenger, always mid-flight between two languages.

Etymology
Latin
Pluma

The softest feather of a bird. Representing lightness, agility, and the gentle touch of a natural translation.

French
Plume

The quill used for writing. Representing the art of communication and the permanence of shared understanding.

The mission

Our goal is to make relationships easier around the world — not just through text, but through voice and images that make communication feel effortless across every language.

Relationships first

Every feature answers one question: does this make it easier for people to connect?

Culture as a bridge

Translation isn't just swapping words — it's carrying humor, warmth and tradition across.

Always evolving

New platforms, deeper lore and seasonal celebrations — PlumiBot grows with its people.

Changelog

Every update to PlumiBot, from V1 to today.

v2.12.0 2026-07-29 Latest

Top up whatever amount you like

Pay-as-you-go credit came in three fixed sizes. Now there are six one-tap amounts up to NT$3,000, and a field for typing your own — so a top-up can match what you actually expect to use instead of the nearest button.

Highlights

  • Six preset amounts: NT$150, 300, 600, 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000.
  • Or enter any whole amount in that range yourself.
  • The larger the top-up, the smaller the share the card fee takes — NT$3,000 loses about half as much to fees as NT$150 does.
  • Every amount now shows what it costs in your own currency, at the day's exchange rate.

v2.11.0 2026-07-29

The same translation for everyone, and faster

We benchmarked our models against each other on real chat. The cheaper one translated just as well and answered several times quicker — so every plan now translates chat on it, Free included. Paying more buys you more translation, not a better sentence.

Highlights

  • Chat translation runs on the same model on every plan, and replies land noticeably faster than before.
  • The larger model is now reserved for voice notes, photos and shared links — the work that actually needs it.
  • Group Pro is 30,000 messages a month (10.5M tokens). The previous figure was priced against costs that no longer hold, and we would rather correct it than quietly degrade the service.
v2.10.0 2026-07-28

A sturdier engine, and a clearer Free tier

Translation now runs through a provider gateway instead of a single vendor, so one outage can no longer take the bot down, and the Free tier is now honest about what it covers.

Highlights

  • Voice notes, photos and shared-link reading are now paid features. On Free the bot says so straight away instead of failing quietly, and never spends your tokens on them.
  • The Free monthly allowance is now 300 messages (105,000 tokens). Games, digest and stats still come with it.
  • The plan comparison table had been understating every paid allowance — it now shows the real token budgets.
v2.9.0 2026-07-27

Every language we could reach

The language list grew from a shortlist to 124 — and every menu button in LINE now goes where its label says.

Highlights

  • All 124 languages available in every chat.
  • Menu buttons audited end to end — no more dead ends or wrong destinations.
v2.8.0 2026-07-26

Your account, in your language

Signing in and everything behind it — usage, billing, top-ups, settings — now reads in the same 14 languages as the rest of the site.

Highlights

  • The sign-in and getting-started pages carry a language picker, so a wrong guess is one tap from fixed.
  • Plan names read in your language wherever they appear.
  • Account links sent from LINE now open in your real browser, so signing in from a chat works properly.
v2.7.0 2026-07-25

A new look

PlumiBot gets the retro-computing wardrobe it always deserved — a whole new site, rebuilt page by page.

Highlights

  • Every page redrawn: pixel art, phosphor dark mode and a proper type system.
  • Light, dark and system appearance, remembered between visits.
  • Faster pages — the old stylesheet went out with the old design.
  • Other languages are being redrawn next, and keep the previous design until then.
v2.3.0 2026-07-24

Bigger allowances, same price

Every plan's monthly quota grew by a large multiple, and pay-as-you-go moved to one flat rate per message. Nothing costs more than it did.

v2.2.0 2026-07-24

Your own account area

Usage, billing and group settings in one place — sign in with !login and PlumiBot sends you a link.

v2.1.0 2026-06-12

Hardening

A security and performance pass across the whole web layer, plus faster first loads.

v2.0.0 2026-04-08

The group chat assistant

The big V2 launch — PlumiBot grows from a simple translator into a full group chat assistant with a smarter translation core.

Highlights

  • Voice-to-text transcription and smart image OCR (menu, sign, document, product).
  • Word Chain and Translation Duel mini-games with per-group leaderboards.
  • Group tools: !digest, !stats, quality feedback and referrals.
  • Tappable carousel menus and quick-reply buttons, localized per user.
v1.5.0 ~ 2026-03

Subscriptions & dashboards

Stripe subscriptions, pay-as-you-go credits, user & admin dashboards, and passwordless login via LINE DM tokens.
